What happens during a Colonoscopy?

A colonoscopy typically lasts anywhere from 30 mins to 1 hour.

Step 01

You will lie on your left side bending your knees

Step 02

IV line will be inserted and you will be asleep during the whole procedure

Step 03

Colonoscope is inserted into your rectum to detect abnormalities or changes in your colon

Step 04

You will wake up 1 to 2 hours later and you can be discharged on the same day

What happens after a Colonoscopy?

Some mild bloating or cramping may be present after the procedure but you should return to normal in a few hours. However, it is important to let your doctor know if you experience any unusual symptoms after the procedure.
